Why Me?

I hope this letter finds you well. I will be honest, I am composing this cover letter that I can reuse to copy paste and tweak depending on where I am applying to. No disrespect intended of course — your time is valuableand so is mine and because this cover letter is for a software development role, this should showcase my ability for optimalization and efficiency in solving problems like composing cover letters to send to multiple job applications because DRY is one of the software development principle I try to follow :).

I'm not your typical software enthusiast. I enjoy stepping away from bright screens — whether it's immersing myself in the delightful chaos of raising my kids, kicking a soccer ball around with friends or simply finding solace in nature. Life, for me, extends beyond the boundaries of programming and keyboard clicks. I like to think and debate about the purpose of life, delving into the intricacies of people's beliefs and philosophies.

Spending hours in front of the computer isn't my idea of a fulfilling day, and I'm pretty sure there are others who feel the same way, perhaps even you. That's precisely why I engage in the world of software development. Life is too short to be confined to a desk, just as it's too precious to spend all your time writing code. I revel in the joy of nurturing my kids, scoring goals on the soccer field, and finding simplicity in nature. In a world that's evolving at breakneck speed, so are our daily rituals. Who wants to manually manage their finances, stand in line to order a meal, or deal with the intricacies of data analysis? Not me, and probably not you either.

We've streamlined the way we order food, and there are equally efficient ways to navigate the challenges of parenthood, relish the thrill of outdoor adventures, and harness the power of software for seamless data analysis. Software is the catalyst. It's about crafting tools that enhance our lives, making the journey smoother and more enjoyable. There's a certain satisfaction in letting technology take the wheel, allowing us to focus on what truly matters. That's the kind of software I would like to build.

In my journey as a Frontend Developer, I've navigated the unpredictable terrains of the tech landscape. I've witnessed the chaos when wrong estimation and bad planning lead to accumulating technical debt just to meet tight deadlines. Along the way, I faced the impact of a startup winding down, leading to my unfortunate layoff due to company-wide constraints. The resilience forged in such environments became evident when faced with management changes and hardships, and during the turbulent times of the COVID era, necessitating tough decisions, including layoffs. Through these experiences, I've seen a lot, learned valuable lessons, failed a couple of times, so I know I haven't done it all yet and would like to experience and grow more, hopefully by landing somewhere like your esteemed company.
